This September, Shoal will showcase its commitment to safety at the EFD Energy, Fuels & Decarbonisation Expo 2025. The event, co-located with the UK’s largest environmental expo, brings together leaders in energy from waste, carbon capture, hydrogen, and sustainable technologies industries where health, safety, and environmental (HSE) performance is central to long-term success.

Why Safety Leadership Matters Now

As the global energy transition accelerates, the challenges facing project delivery are becoming more complex. Large-scale energy-from-waste facilities, pioneering carbon capture systems, and developing hydrogen infrastructure require not only cutting-edge engineering, but also robust and measurable safety leadership.

At Shoal, we see safety not just as a compliance obligation but as a performance enabler. Our ‘reimagined’ philosophy turns health and safety management into something tangible, quantified, benchmarked, and continually improved. By doing so, we help our partners deliver projects that are safe, sustainable, and resilient.

Shoal at EFD Expo 2025

Shoal’s presence at the EFD Expo will highlight our role as both a thought leader and a collaborative partner in the energy transition:

  • Showcasing Innovation: Shoal’s specialist HSE team will be on hand meeting with our valued partners current and new, showcasing Shoals leading turnkey HSE solutions.
  • Building Connections: With a central exhibition stand alongside leading organisations such as enfinium, Siemens, Suez, and ENGIE, and a dedicated VIP networking space, we will provide platforms to share ideas, strengthen partnerships, and explore the future of HSE.
  • Come see us at stand EN-G110

Panel Discussion: Optimising planned outages to achieve operational excellence – on time, on budget and without incident

Our CEO, Sean Austin, will lead a panel discussion on HSE in outage management, joined by key industry partners.

Discussion Highlights:

  • Strategic Maintenance: how precise planning reduces risk and maximises outage success.
  • Performance Gains and Lessons Learnt: real-world examples of Shoal’s insights improving results from outage to outage.
  • Collaboration in Action: what makes the relationship between  operators, Shoal and the subcontractors effective before, during, and after outages.
  • High-Performing Teams: why strong teams matter, and how Shoal, as Principal Contractor, provides sector-leading supervision that aligns with the highest HSE standards.
  • Lessons from the Field: candid reflections on what’s worked, what hasn’t, and how plants evolve from commissioning to operational excellence.
  • Future of Outage Optimisation: how forward-thinking approaches accelerate progress.

The Bigger Picture

Shoal’s involvement in this Expo is more than just participation; it’s a reflection of our belief that strong safety performance drives innovation and growth. By embedding safety into every decision, process, and partnership, we help our clients not only meet regulatory requirements, but also unlock value, build trust, and future-proof their operations.

For us, Safety in Numbers means measurable impact: safer projects, stronger outcomes, and sustainable progress for the energy sector.
