Course Description

This regulated and nationally recognised qualification provides learners with the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in basic life support (BLS) and AED usage in emergency situations.

Over a half day period, learners will develop the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of first aid situations and safely use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Topics covered include: managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR, using an AED on both adults and children, combining AED use with CPR.

Who Should Attend?

The QA Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (RQF) qualification has been designed for those who have a specific interest or responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities to provide BLS when dealing with an emergency situation which may involve using an AED. International resuscitation guidelines recommend training in the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to save lives. The objective of the qualification is to benefit Learners by preparing them to deal with a range of first aid situations and safely use an AED. This qualification is for people who have a specific interest or responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, e.g. a first aider, in being able to provide BLS when dealing with an emergency situation which may involve using an AED.
